Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2017 Mazda CX-5

Speaker 1: Today in our 2017 Mazda CX-5, we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Over The Top Two Bike Carrier. And that's going to be part number HRF2.Now this bike rack is specifically designed for vehicles that have tails or spoilers like our Mazda does. If we look, we're going to see the connection points for our strap from the bike rack to the vehicle. It's not putting any extra weight on our spoiler which could potentially damage it.If we look at the bike itself, we're going to see it has three different points where it's secured. We have these straps on the top of our frame securing it into the cradles. We have this anti-rattle strap that is securing this part of the frame into there once we do that. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Mazda3, we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack. That's going to be part #Y02634. As you can see, we have a bike installed. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now starting from the outside and working our way in, we're going to have this integrated cable lock system, which comes out from this arm of our bike rack, wraps around our second bike we have installed, and inserts on this notch right there. You will get a set of keys with your bike rack in order to unlock the cable, thus unload your bikes. On the other arm, we're going to have a Yakima bottle opener. Our cradles are going to be stationary. However, they do have this nice rubber TPE padding, which means these little notches right here are going to act as shock absorbers for your bike frame while you're traveling to help protect it from any damage. Our bike's going to be secured at 3 points of contact. more

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2013 Mazda CX-5

Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 Mazda CX-5, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima HalfBack Two Bike Rack and that's going to be part number Y02636.As you can see, we do already have a bike installed so we can go ahead and take a look at some of the features.Starting from the outside and working our way in, we're going to see on both sides we do have these bottle openers. If we look at the cradles, we're going to see this nice rubber TPE padding. Now, what that's going to do is the TPE padding is going to act as a shock absorber for the frame of our bike during travel and it's going to protect it from any type of scratches or abrasions. These cradles are stationary, meaning they don't move side to side, or up and down the bike rack.If we look at our bike, we're going to see it secured at three different points of contact. We're going to have these two ZipStrips on the top of our bike frame securing them into the cradles. If we come down here, we're going to see this anti-rattle cradle. Now, when the ZipStrip is securing the frame of our bike into the anti-rattle cradle, that's going to prevent our bike from swaying too much during travel, preventing any vehicle to bike contact, or bike to bike contact if you have two installed.Up here, we're going to see this strap we have securing the front wheel of our bike to the frame of our bike. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Mazda CX5, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Yakima halfback two trunk mounted two bike rack. That's part number Y02636. So I've already got everything all loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's gonna hold our bikes. Now in my personal opinion, I would say this is a quality bike rack. Compared to the Yakima full back, it has a few differences. It doesn't have locks and it doesn't have rubber coated cam buckles, but it's still a great bike rack. more

On one, we actually have the patented Yakima bottle opener as we do with most of the Yakima bike racks. On the other one, however, we have an integrated cable lock that can wrap around the very last bike and attach to the point here to be locked into place. This will keep both bikes secure on the rack, once it's installed.Moving on the actual cradles here, these are stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth, but they're spaced enough apart where spacing shouldn't be an issue. more
